Brooke Slotsve – HR Coordinator
| Brooke grew up in Santa Clarita, CA and studied Film & TV with an emphasis in editing at Cal State Long Beach.
During the colder months, she loves to read novels and play cozy video games on her Switch. When the weather is nice, Brooke enjoys roller skating, biking, going to the beach, thrifting and visiting dog parks. She also will try a new bar or restaurant in North Park about twice a month with friends. When she has a free weekend, she likes to volunteer at a local dog rescue called Cantu Foundation. Brooke’s professional career began in entertainment as a Production Assistant, then she pivoted into marketing as a Social Media Manager during Covid, and managed campaigns for clients like Disney, Hulu, HBO Max, and even the Hunger Games books. She really enjoyed the work, but as the industry struggled to recover, she realized she wanted a more stable and people focused career. HR had always appealed to her, so Brooke made the switch and connected with FLORES through the UCSD HR Certificate program. Brooke is currently an HR Coordinator. She loves FLORES because it gave her a great starting point for a career in HR and allows her to learn a lot of different aspects of the profession. It has reinforced that HR is the career path she wants to continue growing in! Recently engaged last fall, she has been with her partner for 11 years and they have a dog named PJ who is her whole life. A quote that resonates with Brooke is: “Don’t waste time or time will waste you.” – Muse Looking ahead, Brooke would like to get her SHRM or PHR certification and wants to travel more! Perhaps a trip to Japan is in her future. |
