Employee Spotlight- Dawn Turpin #4

Dawn Turpin- Accounting Associate II

Dawn is a proud native San Diegan, raised in La Mesa, where she graduated from Helix High School.

Dawn has a twin sister and two dogs- Moe Moe and Zelda, and they are her favorite things to come home to after a long day. She enjoys hiking and visiting local trendy coffee shops on the weekends. She also regularly goes to the new hot yoga Gym in Santee called Hotworks throughout the week.

With springtime here, Dawn is focusing on her pretty impressive garden she grows with her sister who owns a home on an acre and half in Lakeside. Together, they grow lots and lots of plants. This year she hopes to see their apricot tree produce more fruit (they got about 10 last year) and bloom on their Wisteria vine. At the beginning of this month, Dawn and her sister planted seedlings which are just about ready to put in the garden beds- of which they have 5 currently and plan for 2 more. They also built two arches in the garden and are finishing a brick path.

Dawn worked in sales for about 5 years before coming to FLORES. While entering a new chapter in her life, she decided to pursue a career outside of sales. She had many years of accounting/bookkeeping experience prior to her sales career, and a friend from a previous bookkeeper job introduced her to FLORES. She was drawn to the company as she wanted a stable company to work for who had proper values like we have here at FLORES. After a couple years of dog-eat-dog culture, she was more than happy to join a supportive company. She feels really lucky to be able to enjoy working on the Il Fornaio team with a manager who believes she can excel in her role. After a year of working very hard, she is now learning her Accounting Associate II role.

One of Dawn’s favorite quotes is on her desk, and it specifically relates to her work and likely all of ours. “It always seems impossible until its done.” – Nelson Mandela.
