Rachel Hernandez- Accounting Associate I

Rachel loves her hometown of San Diego, California, and was born and raised in Pacific Beach. She and her husband, Joey, bought her dream home in 2016 which was also her grandparents’ home and her childhood playground in the beautiful mountains of Alpine. They are raising their 2 sons, Elias (19) and River (13). They also have 2 dogs, 2 giant tortoises and an unruly senior cat named Jasmine.

Rachel had a strong desire to work from the young age of 15 and started by copying medical records at her mom’s medical office after school. After working as a waitress and Target cashier for a few years, at 19 she began her administrative career at an attorney service as the receptionist and then was offered the position of Executive Director Assistant for the holistic health school she was attending. While always holding down a full-time admin job, Rachel also studied holistic health and became a licensed Holistic Health Practitioner and Massage Therapist in 1997. She believes that both numbers & spreadsheets as well as massage & meditation practices are a great left/right brain balance. In her previous position of Business Ops Coordinator & Financial Director Assistant for a San Diego event company, her favorite job tasks were bank & credit card reconcile and she also held weekly Wellness Wednesday events for the staff. In addition to her admin skills, she also loves helping people achieve wellness goals through her private holistic health practice of massage, nutrition, herbal medicine, stress management and aromatherapy. Her most challenging and rewarding job was managing the day program at a young women’s holistic recovery center. There she helped implement the administrative function of the organization, learned Excel and budgeting, mentored young women in recovery and taught nutrition and life skills classes which pushed her to overcome her fear of public speaking.

Rachel strived to level up her administrative career and finance skills and sought out Flores Financial during a pivotal career upgrade. She was most drawn to Flores’ core values of family and integrity. Rachel is an Accounting Associate 1 and is working hard to grow within the company and hopes Flores will be her long-term work family. She loves helping businesses maintain organizational integrity with her love of numbers, spreadsheets and the satisfaction of a daily rhythm and checking items off a task list!

Rachel’s favorite things are dancing, music, gardening, going to concerts, paddle boarding, dancing, trips to Catalina Island with her family, has recently taken up golf, and oh, and did she mention dancing?? She started dancing at the age of 3 and has not stopped.  Her happy place is in her backyard with her animals, plants, family and music.
