Employee Spotlight- Kevin Ward #10

Kevin Ward- Human Resources Payroll Associate I

Kevin was born in Tampa, FL, but grew up in Spring Valley. He then moved to Rancho Bernardo, graduated from RBHS, and then obtained a degree in History with a minor in Islamic Studies from UCSD.

Kevin loves history, learning languages, and traveling. He has lived in countries such as Honduras, Egypt, and South Korea (where he met his wife while teaching). They quickly moved to Ireland, married, and had two children. Kevin’s family is now my greatest hobby. They love swimming, dancing, singing, and all have deep love for learning. Nothing is more important to Kevin than family. Without Michelle, Ethan, and Sofia, he would be lost. He loves them to pieces and can’t wait to get home to them every night since they make his world spin.

Most of Kevin’s HR/PR background was twenty years ago. He worked in various capacities that included sales, political canvassing, customer service, and his favorite of all, teaching English as a Foreign Language. The amalgamation of these experiences and his travels prepared him to make a big change. So, he moved to San Diego and took a chance with FLORES.

Kevin was drawn to FLORES by our laidback but hard-working culture and enjoys that his colleagues and managers are supportive and able to deal with his quirky sense of humor. He appreciates the encouragement he’s experienced along the way. Kevin feels most successful when he’s able to make someone smile or laugh, and when I hear my children read from a book or solve a math problem beyond their years. As for FLORES, this same mentality applies to his clients. If he can make them smile, then he’s been successful. That, and he’s super particular, so accuracy rocks, too!

“Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere. We are caught in an inescapable network of mutuality, tied in a single garment of destiny. Whatever affects one directly, affects all indirectly.” – MLK. Kevin resonates with this quote and mostly remembers the first line since he’s all about justice and what is “right”. He feels we each have our part to play to make this a better world. He plays his through laughter at work, the love of his family, and contributing to society by attempting to maintain the concept of “mutuality”, which is not always a successful endeavor.
